R.E. Whittaker Company prides ourselves in giving businesses a smarter way to clean carpet. Today we sat down with Matthew Falk, Commercial Project Manager of ServiceMaster of Kalamazoo, to find out exactly about how Whittaker Systems can help franchises care for carpets in a more efficient and cost effective way.
Whittaker: Tell us a little bit about what you do for ServiceMaster.
Matthew Falk: I am the Commercial Project Manager for ServiceMaster of Kalamazoo. I do all of the estimating, scheduling, follow-up, and customer satisfaction… among other duties. I am with the customer every step of the way throughout the cleaning process.
W: What attracted you to the Whittaker System?
M: We had an older unit that performed well. The low moisture application and quick dry times made it ideal for a hospital setting, which is where I first experienced and used the Whittaker. We didn’t use it often because it was a little unconventional and time consuming having to manually pre-spray our product. I had doubts with how well it would work, but the customer loved it!
W: How does the Whittaker help Your Franchise?
M: The Whittaker System has helped our franchise in numerous ways. We had an account that we had lost due to unrelated reasons. They had a standard carpet cleaning company come in after us, but the company didn’t take proper care of the carpet, which resulted in the carpet tiles losing some adhesive and began to curl due to excessive moisture.
I contacted the customer and told them about the low moisture cleaning we can do with an older Whittaker System that we were using at the time. He was interested and I came in to do a test area. He was amazed by the results and let us back into the facility for the carpet cleaning.
After doing the job 2-3 times we started looking into additional units. Something popped up and I saw the Trio. We then took the unit and the CQR to this account and were asked what we did differently because the carpets looked the best that they've seen. We are now there every three months for the cleaning and the carpets are the best they have looked in years!
W: What is the biggest benefit Whittaker offers to your company?
M:Whittaker has phenomenal products and technical support. The Trio helps us win bids on jobs that have large square footage because we are able to price much cheaper than the standard carpet cleaning companies. It’s great for hotels, hospitals and churches.
W: Have you found Whittaker is a good value for the money it costs?
Initially the pricing seemed a bit expensive. However, we got our ROI after just 6 months of having the unit! The durability of the Trio and the quality of parts sets it apart from the rest and I have been nothing short of amazed at the results it gives us.
W: How does the Whittaker System compare to other cleaning technologies?
M:The Whittaker System performs better than systems that require you to put a dry powder down and creates a much better atmosphere and better end results. It also has great maneuverability, ease of operation, and functionality.
For the same cost of doing wet extraction two times a year, you can clean with the Whittaker System four times a year and have consistently cleaner carpets. This is due to reduced labor costs and reduced capital investment of the Whittaker System compared with a truck mount extraction system. Also, with the Whittaker System and CQR (Crystal® Quick Restore chemistry), there is no wicking back of spots that consistently reappear with wet extraction.
W: Would you recommended the Whittaker system?
M:I highly recommend the Whittaker System! Every company will be able to utilize the Whittaker System in a way that would help benefit their business’ needs. Whether its facilities with large square footage, routine maintenance cleaning, or just spot checking - the Whittaker is sure to impress. We had such a success after using it for 8 months we had to purchase an additional unit so we could have two Whittaker’s running on a job!
Our Brand Commitment - Making sure that every square foot of carpet adds to the beauty of a facility as its manufacturers, architects, designers, and installers intended.
